Originally, ginger jars were used for storing and transporting spices in Ancient China. They were used as containers for salt, oil but also rarer spices such as ginger. Adorned with the shuangxi symbol on the front and back, and is surrounded by sweet pea wines symbolizing “many children” and “forever”symbol for Double happiness. This was a common gift to the Emperor during the Qin Dynasty, and later for weddings and celebrations.
